Katherine Bennell-Pegg is an Australian astronaut and aerospace engineer, recognised as聽Australian of the Year 2026聽for her leadership in advancing Australia鈥檚 space capability. In 2023, while at the Australian Space Agency, she was selected by the European Space Agency to undertake astronaut training in Germany, becoming the first astronaut trained under the Australian flag.
